Toronto makes Turn 3 changes overnight
The city of Toronto was busy overnight applying new asphalt to the braking zone at Turn 3, which serves as the most popular passing location at the Honda Indy Toronto street circuit.
The change came at the request of drivers who called out a significant new bump that developed during the winter and caused significant instability while trying to slow from more than 180mph during Friday’s practice session led by Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood.
“I think they honestly need to grind it tonight,” said Team Penske’s Will Power after running fifth in the No. 12 Chevy. “It will hurt racing. Very apprehensive to go up the inside. They should grind it. Massive new bump at the end of the straight into [Turn] 3. Right in the braking zone, boom.”
