Skip Barber Racing School to build first-ever racing resort in Ixtapan de la Sal, Mexico
Skip Barber Racing School (SBRS) has officially signed an agreement with the San Roman family and their investment group to develop and operate a full-service car racing track and karting center in the resort town of Ixtapan de la Sal, Mexico.
This landmark venture marks SBRS’s first Racing Resort—a visionary project integrating high-performance driving, professional training, and luxury amenities. The new development will reside within Gran Reserva, a generational estate known for attracting global icons and
offering world-famous hot springs, a championship golf course, and an award-winning spa.
“We are thrilled to partner with the San Roman family in what we believe is Latin America’s epicenter for motorsports,” said Michael Berg, CFO of SBRS. “This site will allow us to serve drivers and sponsors from across Mexico, Latin America, and the globe. Its close proximity to Toluca (30 minutes) and Mexico City International Airport (1.5 hours) makes it a uniquely accessible destination.”
Chairman Ricardo San Roman added, “Our resort has long been a retreat for celebrities like Ava Gardner and Johnny Weissmuller. With Skip Barber Racing School as our partner, we now create an entirely new destination category—a luxury motorsports hub. There is simply nothing like it.”
Skip Barber’s move into Latin America is both a brand milestone and a cultural moment, meeting surging demand for motorsport experiences across the region. Drivers and high-end automotive brands will have a premium platform to engage customers through on-track experiences led by world-class instructors.
