WWTR delivers 95.7 percent TV audience increase on last year's race

IndyCar’s primetime Sunday night debut on FOX with the Bommarito Automotive group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway delivered an average of 1,012,000 viewers.

The race won by Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood earned a 95.7 percent audience increase over the 517,191 who watched the 2024 WWTR race, which aired on NBC’s USA cable channel. It marked the first time since 2016 that both races following the Indy 500 achieved more than 1 million viewers, and was also the most-watched IndyCar Series race (excluding the Indy 500) among adults aged between 18 and 34 since 2011.

In shifting the race to an 8pm ET broadcast window, the hope was to draw a larger audience with the Sunday night slot, but the short oval event drew a slightly smaller number than the most recent race, the Detroit Grand Prix held Sunday afternoon, June 1, which delivered an average of 1,061,000. Across the first eight races of the season, FOX is averaging 2,007,000 viewers, which is an increase of 27 percent over the 1,577,000 drawn in 2024.
