Van Gisbergen and crew take All-Star Open pole at North Wilkesboro

Shane van Gisbergen will lead the field to the green flag in the All-Star Open at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Van Gisbergen and his No. 88 Trackhouse Racing team were fastest in Open qualifying at 76.112mph (88.685s). The qualifying time was a combination of van Gisbergen’s laps on track and a pit stop.

“I think we finally got all things right,” van Gisbergen said. “Qualifying has been a weakness. My lap was pretty good and then coming [onto pit road] was good; the pit stop guys were insane, so really good for them. Thanks to WeatherTech, thanks to the Trackhouse pit crew, and we’re front tomorrow. I’ve never started at the front for an oval, so I don’t know what to do there. I’ll have to learn the rules and see how we go.”

The All-Star Open will run Sunday at 5 p.m. ET.

Carson Hocevar joins van Gisbergen on the front row. Hocevar clocked in at 75.942mph (88.884s).

Noah Gragson qualified third, with Michael McDowell fourth and Ryan Preece fifth.
