McLaughlin's Barber slide heads straight to the highlight reels

Back in the 2010s, IndyCar drivers participated in a friendly game of one-upping each other with onboard footage of their wildest moments of oversteer and the lightning-fast reflexes that caught those slides and prevented them from becoming spins and crashes.

Four-time IndyCar champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti had a deep catalog of saves he proudly showed, as did the late Justin Wilson, who couldn’t help but flash his big smile while pressing play on his latest miraculous save.

Team Penske’s Scott McLaughlin has a good reason to keep and share his most recent moment of yaw captured during opening practice Friday at Barber Motorsports Park where his No. 3 Chevy crested Turn 13 and began steering into a slide that had the New Zealander sitting completely sideways at one point before the car righted itself in an amazing escape from potential calamity.
