Zilisch to make second Cup start at the Coca-Cola 600

Connor Zilisch will make his second start in the NASCAR Cup Series, returning to the No. 87 Chevrolet in the Coca-Cola 600, with Red Bull again sponsoring his effort.

Zilisch, a Trackhouse Racing development driver, made his Cup Series debut in March at Circuit of the Americas. He qualified 14th and finished last, 37th, after being collected in an incident with Trackhouse Racing teammate Daniel Suarez.

“It’s awesome to have the opportunity to race in one of NASCAR’s coolest events,” Zilisch said. “The Charlotte 600 is one of the most prestigious races in NASCAR. It’s going to be a physical and mental challenge because that race is so tough. I’m very appreciative for Justin [Marks] and everyone at Red Bull for their support and turning this opportunity into a reality.”

Circuit of the Americas was Red Bull's first race in its return to NASCAR. It is Trackhouse Racing’s official energy drink and will also appear on Shane van Gisbergen’s Chevrolet in five races.

As for Zilisch, the 18-year-old North Carolina native competes full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports. Zilisch has two career wins in the series.
