Talaska wins Formula DRIFT PROSPEC Round 1 at Road Atlanta

Repeating his Round 1 win from 2025, Cory Talaska stood on the top step of the podium for Formula DRIFT Link ECU PROSPEC Championship Round 1 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta after a fierce tussle with Jason Webb in the Final. The result proved Talaska's consistency after he finished fourth in the 2025 PROSPEC standings and narrowly missed promotion into the PRO Championship

On his way to the win, Talaska beat Rookie Levi Wait in the Top 32, Kasey Kohl in the Top 16, Sam Maghmoumi in the Top 8 and a determined Jerry Jones in the Final 4 after a One More Time battle.

Webb, a 32 year-old FD rookie, has been drifting for more than a decade, won four South African national titles. and competed around the world in numerous drift events. He imported his right-hand-drive Mustang from South Africa to Canada, where he lives and drove it to a highly competitive second place finish

Third place Brutskiy is a regular PROSPEC podium visitor, having won the championship twice in 2020 and 2021. For the past two seasons, Dmitriy competed in both PRO and PROSPEC but is focusing solely on the latter this year

Series history was made in Atlanta when 14 year-old Camren Sorensen faced off against 15 year-old Rookie Braden Lons in the Top 16 after they both won their Top 32 heats. The youngest of three Sorensen siblings competing in FD won their battle, although Lons was handicapped by a clutch problem. Sorensen would be defeated in the Top 8 heats by Brutskiy.

Sorensen went on to finish fifth on the night and place ninth in the championship standings. Lons placed 16th but was catapulted to eighth overall thanks to his 12 Championship points haul from winning the Seeding Bracket Qualification on Thursday.

  • Round 2 from Road Atlanta continues Saturday, starting with the Formula Drift PRO Gridwalk at 4:00pm ET on RACER Network and the RACER+ App, followed by the Top 16 at 4:30pm ET on RACER+
