Porsche's Andlauer to pilot Proton Competition 963 at Daytona

Julien Andlauer, the newest recruit of the Porsche Penske Motorsport WEC team, will rejoin Proton Competition for this year's Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Andlauer will drive the No. 5 Proton Competition Porsche 963 alongside the previously announced trio of 2016 Le Mans winner Neel Jani, 2022 Sebring winner Tristan Vautier, and GTP newcomer Nico Pino.

The 25-year-old Frenchman is set to join Porsche Penske in the WEC this year after driving for Proton in the FIA WEC, where he scored two top-10 finishes and a best result of fifth place in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.

Proton Competition officially announced Saturday that the Porsche 963 will run all five Michelin Endurance Cup events. Originally announced as a GTP Endurance Cup entry by IMSA in October, the program was left in doubt when Porsche remarked that it would only have one privateer 963 in IMSA (JDC Miller MotorSports) during its Night of Champions gala in December.

Christian and Michael Ried will manage Proton Competition's GTD PRO entry at Daytona -- the No. 20 Porsche 911 GT3 R of Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni, Richard Lietz and Thomas Preining. Iron Dames will run the No. 83 Proton Porsche 992 for Sarah Bovy, Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatting and Karen Gaillard in the organization's first race in their 2025 GTD Endurance Cup program.

“This race will be an important benchmark for drivers and teams for the rest of the season, especially in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup,” said Team Principal Christian Ried. “Alongside our partners, we’ve laid the foundations for a successful start to the 2025 motorsport year. I hope that hard work will pay off in Daytona.”

“Daytona always kicks off the year with a highlight right at the start of the season. We’re well prepared and very eager to see where we stand against our strong competition,” added Michael Ried, Team Principal and CTO of Proton Competition. “We want to use the traditional Roar with our drivers as a final fine-tune for the season.”
