Evans leads third Diriyah E-Prix practice
Mitch Evans and Jean-Eric Vergne resumed their battle from Friday night's first Diriyah E-Prix race in Saturday practice, with the Jaguar TCS driver beating the DS Penske man to the top spot.
The session was the only practice session of today, after two yesterday -- for doubleheader weekends that encompass two full championship rounds, practice time is halved for the second race.
Evan's pace-setting time of 1m10.154s was 0.208s quicker than Vergne's time, with Evans completing two fewer laps in the session. Maserati MSG's Maximillian Guenther was third quickest, a further 0.131s back, with Oliver Rowland (Nissan) -- who was the only driver in the top five not utilizing the full 350KW power allocation -- and Friday winner Jake Dennis (Andretti) fifth.
Stoffel Vandoorne was 0.050s adrift of the top five in the second DS Penske, with Nick Cassidy 0.004s slower than him in the other Jaguar. Nissan's Sacha Fenestraz was next, with the Envision Racing duo of Sebatien Buemi and Robin Frijns completing the top 10.
Next was Jake Hughes for NEOM McLaren, with Norman Nato 12 in the second Andretti. Jehan Darulava (Maserati) was 13th, ahead of Mexico winner Pascal Wehrlein who was the highest-placed of the factory Porsches. Edoardo Mortara was 15th for Mahindra, ahead of teammate Nyck de Vries and the ERT duo of Dan Ticktum and Sergio Sette Camara.
Lucas di Grassi (Abt Cupra), Sam Bird (McLaren), Nico Mueller (Abt Cupra), and Antonio Felix da Costa (Porsche) completed the field, which was covered by just 1.32s
