The Pirelli GT4 America Sprint field was met with perfect conditions at Sonoma Raceway for the 15-minute qualifying session to set the grid for Saturday afternoon’s Race 1. McLaren factory driver Michael Cooper (Pro) wasted no time in the No. 10 Blackdog Speed Shop McLaren 570S by setting a fastest lap of 1:45.243 early in the session to claim pole.
Team Panoz’s Ian James (Pro) will start second after posting a time of 1:45.344 in the No. 50 Panoz Avezzano GT4. Championship leader Spencer Pumpelly (Pro) will start from third in the No. 66 TRG Porsche 718 CS MR. CRP Racing’s Matt Brabham (Pro), who set the fastest time in yesterday’s practice session 2, will start fourth in the No. 20 Porsche Cayman CS MR with Robinson Racing’s Shane Lewis (Pro) rounding out the top five in the No. 72 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.
Drew Staveley took the Am-class pole in the No. 12 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4 with a time of 1:46.694, fast enough for sixth overall. Andretti Autosport’s Jarrett Andretti (Pro) put his No. 18 McLaren 570S seventh with Round 6 winner Nicolai Elghanayan (Pro) eighth in the No. 71 Marco Polo Motorsports KTM Xbow. Alan Brynjolfsson (Am) will start from ninth in the No. 7 Park Place Porsche 718 Cayman CS MR with Gar Robinson (Pro), who sits fourth overall in the championship standings, starting tenth in the No. 74 Robinson Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.
