Jones leads early Saturday Bristol practice
Erik Jones paced the Saturday morning Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series practice at Bristol with a lap of 129.903 mph (14.771 seconds).
The No. 20 Toyota laid down its fastest lap on Lap 15 of the 47 it ran in the session. Fellow Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin was second fastest at 129.850 mph.
Daniel Suarez wound up third with a lap of 129.482 mph with Joey Logano fourth at 129.195 mph. Seven-time Bristol winner Kyle Busch completed the top five with a lap of 129.186 mph.
The rest of the top 10 were Jimmie Johnson at 129.090 mph, Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. at 129.038 mph, Kevin Harvick at 129.004 mph, and Ryan Blaney at 128.978 mph.
William Byron ran 110 laps, which was the most of any driver.
Harvick led the way in the best 10 consecutive lap average over Jones, Blaney, Suarez, Bowyer, Johnson, Byron, Logano, Aric Almirola, and Chase Elliott.
There were no incidents in the 55-minute session although it was briefly halted early on for potential debris on the track.
