Paul Menard and the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 led the way in the second Friday afternoon practice session for the Daytona 500.
Menard’s quickest lap was 200.758 mph (44.830 seconds). Second fastest was Jamie McMurray, who said earlier this week he is likely making his final NASCAR start this Sunday. McMurray ran a lap of 200.696 mph.
A parade of Ford drivers filled out the rest of the top 10. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was third fastest (200.664 mph) followed by Ryan Newman (200.638 mph), and Clint Bowyer (200.588 mph).
The rest of the top 10 was Aric Almirola (200.571 mph), Daniel Suarez (200.535 mph), Joey Logano (200.450 mph), Ryan Blaney (200.428 mph), and Brad Keselowski (200.428 mph).
Alex Bowman, who was 24th fastest, ran the most laps in the session (15) while 29 of the 40 drivers who will start the race on Sunday afternoon participated in the 50-minute session.
