Superbikes to return to Laguna Seca in 2019
A few weeks after announcing it would not return in 2019, Monterey County and Dorna WSBK Organization announced that the ninth round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship will indeed come back to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in July.
The circuit announced in November that "The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship series will not be racing in North America in 2019, but is anticipated to return to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 2020." But the finalized WorldSBK schedule has the series returning to North America July 12-14, two weeks after the Donington Park round and serving as the final race before its summer break.
Laguna Seca has hosted World Superbike since 1995, with a gap from 2004-2013. Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) has won the last three races around the 2.238-mile track.
MotoAmerica will return with its full series lineup to complement the racing weekend.
