Premium Motorsports to cease Truck operations
Premium Motorsports will not field a team in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series in 2019.
The organization announced Thursday that it will focus solely on their 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing program, which is believed to include a full-time drive for Ross Chastain. The No. 49 Chevy Silverado will race through the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
The team has used a rotation of drivers in the Camping World Truck Series in 2018, including Robby Lyons, Wendell Chavous, Reed Sorenson, Ross Chastain, JR Heffner, Todd Peck, Stefan Parsons and DJ Kennington. Chavous earned the team's best-ever finish in the series with a fifth at Talladega last weekend -- just days after announcing he would step away from NASCAR after the race. Chastain's seventh place at Las Vegas in September was the team's only other top-10 of the year.
Premium Motorsports has retained Gavel Auction Company NCAL6177 to liquidate most of the team’s assets on Tuesday, October 30 in Mooresville, North Carolina following the Martinsville race weekend.
