JDC-Miller on top in final Road America practice

JDC-Miller Motorsports gave a glimpse of the track-record speed that could be coming this afternoon during IMSA qualifying at Road America after Simon Trummer lapped the four-mile facility (1m51.644s) well below 2017’s pole (1m53.058s).

The No. 85 ORECA 07-Gibson LMP2 “Banana Boat” was in a different league compared to the rest of the Prototype field as the No. 2 Tequila Patron ESM Nissan Onroak DPi driven by Ryan Dalziel (+0.755s) and Oliver Jarvis in the No. 77 Mazda RT24-P (+0.826s) has no answer for the Swiss driver.

BMW Team RLL’s Jesse Krohn moved the Bavarian manufacturer to the top of GT Le Mans in the No. 24 M8 GTE (2m02.943s). Corvette Racing’s Tommy Milner (+0.078s) was close behind in the No. 4 C7.R while Porsche GT Team’s Laurens Vanthoor (+0.394s) had more distance to make up in the No. 912 911 RSR.

GT Daytona was a celebration of German machinery as Park Place Racing’s Jorg Bergmeister (2m06.427s) led a Porsche 1-2 in his 911 GT3 R. Wright Motorsports’ Patrick Long was second in his No. 58 911 GT3 R (+0.046s) and Riley Motorsports took third with a brand-new chassis under Jeroen Bleekemolen (+0.153s).

The hot one-hour session was mostly clean, barring damage to the left-rear suspension on the No. 99 JDC-Miller/GAINSCO ORECA 07-Gibson driven by Misha Goikhberg. Fast work by the team had new pieces installed in time for the car to turn laps prior to the checkered flag.
