JGR penalized for Michigan infractions
NASCAR has fined the three Joe Gibbs Racing crew chiefs for the splitter infractions that occurred last Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.
Chris Gayle of the No. 20 team, Adam Stevens of the No. 18 and Mike Wheeler of the No. 11 have each been fined $25,000.
Additionally, the car chiefs from each team – Jason Overstreet of the No. 20, Nate Bellows of the No. 18, and Brandon Griffeth of the No. 11 – have been suspended from the next Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.
Erik Jones, Kyle Busch, and Denny Hamlin had to start at the rear of the field in the FireKeepers Casino 400. All three cars were found with splitters that were not in tolerance when they went through pre-race inspection.
Busch finished fourth, Hamlin 12th and Jones 15th.
The Cup Series races again on Jun 24 at Sonoma Raceway.
