The Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda returns to Road Atlanta for the first time since its inaugural season for the Drift Atlanta presented by Papa John’s weekend May 10-12. After a record-breaking debut just 10 days ago, 32 drivers are slated to compete in Rounds 4-6.
“We are very pleased to sustain such strong and competitive field for Road Atlanta,” said SCCA Pro Racing Vice President Steve Oseth. “This type of participation emphasizes the value F4 presents to all of our teams and competitors. We continue to remain the most cost-effective professional open-wheel championship in the United States.”
Group-A Racing expanded its team for the second championship event, entering its largest lineup since joining F4 U.S. in 2016. Sam Paley of Cincinnati completes Group-A Racing’s three-car squad. Paley competed in three of the seven F4 U.S. events last season, capturing three top-10 finishes.
“We are excited to finally be running three cars in F4. Sam tested a couple days this winter with us and has worked really hard to progress this off-season,” said Group-A Racing Team Manager Jonathan Scarallo. “Sam has great attitude to go with our other two rookies, Cameron O’Conner and Ethan Billions, adding to the great atmosphere we have under our tent. We are looking forward to take his development to next level.”
Refaced in the red and yellow Group-A signature colors, Paley will drive inaugural champion Cameron Das’ car in back-to-back events, finishing his season in his home state at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
“Sam delivered strong results last season. An additional car gives us a better chance to score points in the team-championship,” Scarallo said. “Our third seat will be open for the second part of the season. We are actively testing drivers to complete our final lineup.”
Jay Howard Driver Development leads the team championship heading into Road Atlanta, with JHDD rookie driver Christian Rasmussen of Copenhagen, Denmark, commanding the championship points.
