With the Sports Car Club of America’s record-breaking 2017 National Championship Runoffs and Tire Rack Solo National Championships in the books, you might think the SCCA was done for the season, but you’d be wrong, as the January 2018 issue of SportsCar magazine illustrates. This month, SCCA’s official member magazine brings coverage of more record-setting amateur motorsports events: the DirtFish RallyCross National Championship and the United States RoadRally Challenge.
Gracing this month’s cover of SportsCar, RACER‘s sister publication, is Bret Hunter piloting his supercharged Honda CRX Si. Hunter dominated the Modified Front Wheel Drive RallyCross class at the RallyCross title event held at Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas, and did so flying the American flag to a 17-second victory. And with 123 competitors battling the adverse weather and challenging courses, Hunter’s story wasn’t the only one to be told.
The January issue of SportsCar also brings readers coverage of the United States RoadRally Challenge. Held for the first time in Alaska, this year’s USRRC attracted competitors from all over America for three days of competition on Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula.
Also featured in the January 2018 issue are seven of SCCA’s most successful racers from the 2017 season. Through this in-depth feature, SportsCar reveals the secrets to winning championships at the Solo National Championships and Runoffs. What does it take to be the best? Read and find out.
Members of the SCCA receive SportsCar magazine each month as a benefit of SCCA membership. The issue is available in both physical paper form and online through the member login at www.scca.com. Join the SCCA now and read the digital version of the January 2018 issue of SportsCar tonight.
