Inside SportsCar Magazine’s November 2017 issue

The long-awaited November 2017 issue of SportsCar magazine, the sister publication to RACER and RACER.com as well as the official member magazine of the Sports Car Club of America, is hitting mailboxes right now. Inside, readers are treated to the most extensive coverage of the Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships and ProSolo Finale anywhere, plus coverage from the return of Targa Southland.

The Solo National Championships and ProSolo Finale attracted a combined 1,500-plus autocross entries, with another 88 entries coming from the CAM Invitational, a special invitation-only event for Classic American Muscle category autocross cars. Combined, the Sept. 1-8, 2017, mega event was the largest week of autocross the SCCA has ever hosted.

But the challenges for many competitors began even before the event kicked off, as Hurricanes Harvey and Irma bore down on Texas and Florida, one making landfall before the event and the other after. One driver, Daniel McCelvey, saw his Houston home flooded just prior to making the drive to Lincoln, Neb., to compete in the weeklong championship event. His determination was rewarded not only with a dominating C Street win, but he was also selected for the cover of this issue of SportsCar for his drive both on and off the course.

There are more features within the issue of SportsCar, including an extended look at Targa Southland. This traveling event spans autocross, track driving and SCCA RoadRally, with participants covering three states in as many days. This was the second year of Targa Southland, and it didn’t disappoint.

The December 2017 issue of SportsCar will also be hitting SCCA members’ mailboxes soon. The December issue features the near 1,000-entry 2017 SCCA National Championship Runoffs that took place in late September at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Like the Solo National Championships, the Runoffs also broke all previous records, making this one of SCCA most successful years in the club’s 73-year history.

Members of the SCCA receive SportsCar magazine each month as a benefit of SCCA membership. The issue is available in both physical paper form and online through the member login at www.scca.com. Join the SCCA now and read the digital version of the November 2017 issue of SportsCar tonight.
