DEKRA Green Award Caps off Successful Weekend for Ferrari

At Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca this past weekend, the only thing the No. 62 Risi Competizione team didn’t walk away with was the win.

After Toni Vilander put the No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE on pole for the first time this season, the first time of his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship career, Vilander and co-driver Giancarlo Fisichella drove to a second-place finish in the AMERICA’S TIRE 250 on Sunday.

Vilander also posted the fastest lap of the race and for the fourth time this season, the team was handed the

DEKRA Green Award

after the race. The award recognizes the fastest, cleanest and most efficient car in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class field.

GTLM class teams competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship must utilize alternative fuels such as ethanol or biodiesel. These alternative fuels are relevant to the world’s automotive manufacturers and energy companies as they develop transportation solutions for the future that are sustainable and have a low environmental impact.

Additional factors established by the United States Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE) in conjunction with IMSA, are also taken into consideration to score each car.

The 2017 WeatherTech Championship concludes on Saturday, Oct. 7 with the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The final

DEKRA Green Award

of the season will be distributed after the 10-hour race, which has coverage beginning on FS1 at 10:30 a.m. ET. Keep up with each winner by following DEKRA on Twitter (
