Risi Scores DEKRA Green Award in WeatherTech Championship Return

After a four-race hiatus, Risi Competizione rejoined the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at VIRginia International Raceway on Aug. 27, and came away with a successful weekend in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander steered the No. 62 Ferrari 488 GTE to a third-place result and in addition, took home the

DEKRA Green Award

. This is the third time in 2017 that the Risi Ferrari has been recognized for being the cleanest, fastest and most efficient car in the GTLM class, after also receiving the award at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida.

GTLM class teams competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship must utilize alternative fuels such as ethanol or biodiesel. These alternative fuels are relevant to the world’s automotive manufacturers and energy companies as they develop transportation solutions for the future that are sustainable and have a low environmental impact.

Additional factors established by the United States Department of Energy (DOE), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Society of Automotive Engineers International (SAE) in conjunction with IMSA, are also taken into consideration to score each car.

The America’s Tire 250 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca marks the penultimate round of the 2017 WeatherTech Championship. The race will be televised live on FS1 and FSGO with FS1 authentication on Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. ET, after which another
