No circuits for Ferrari to fear - Vettel

Sebastian Vettel believes there are no circuits Ferrari is likely to struggle at compared to Mercedes for the rest of this season.

Ferrari has traditionally been stronger on high-downforce circuits this season, securing one-two results in both Monaco and Hungary. The theory that there are venues that clearly suit each title contender came after Ferrari was unable to challenge Mercedes in Silverstone just two weeks before Hungary, but after pushing Lewis Hamilton all the way at Spa, championship leader Vettel is confident for the rest of the year.

"We didn't change too much compared to Silverstone which shows, on the one hand that Silverstone was just a bad weekend but we improved also the car so... especially in race pace, we are very strong," Vettel said.

"I mean we were, on average, a second off, or nearly a second off at Silverstone, so it's a big step. I'm very, very happy. I think we are on the right track and I don't think we have a circuit we should fear, going from now."

Vettel's teammate Kimi Raikkonen points to this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza as one of the circuits the team is eager to perform well at, with Ferrari enjoying huge support at its home race.

"I want to do well, obviously  it's our home race and it will be quite hectic," Raikkonen said. "A lot of people expect us to do well but that's not a guarantee we'll get a result straight away.

"I think in the past years we've been quite strong there and hopefully that will be the case [on Sunday] too. That way we can give, not just to the team but also for the tifosi, something to cheer about. For sure we'll have a lot of support and we'll do our best as always and hopefully the pace will be there."

Mercedes will be able to utilize its upgraded power unit at Monza,

having introduced an update in Belgium before the FIA imposed tighter restrictions on oil burn

. As a result, the new Mercedes power unit will be allowed to run at an oil consumption level of up to 1.2L/100km, whereas any newly-introduced power unit components must run at less than 0.9L/100km from this weekend onward.
