Kyle Busch and Truex to renew rivalry from front row

A week after crashing together, Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. will start together on the front row at Pocono Raceway.

Busch won the pole for the Overton's 400 in a rare Sunday morning qualifying session with a lap of 179.372 mph, while Truex jumped to second on his lap at 178.866 mph. The pole is Busch's fifth of the season and his second straight. It is also the 24th of his career.

"No, just got to keep going," Busch said when asked whether he had any worries about starting next to Truex. "Things happen – you move on and you have to focus forward on what's next. For us, it's about trying to get a win this weekend at Pocono and not worrying about what we missed out on last week."

Pocono is one of two tracks on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series schedule Busch still has not won at. As for he and Truex, Busch acknowledged they did talk earlier this weekend and doesn't believe there is anything negative between them.

"I think it was just a mishap that happened on the track and we move on," said Busch.

However, Busch did criticize the reporting of the incident by saying the TV camera cut it short.

"Obviously, there was instigation going on and Adam [Stevens, crew chief] didn't feel that was all that necessary and wanted to make sure those employees knew that, knowing they were JGR in-house employees," said Busch.

"He probably wouldn't have done that if they were in-house Furniture Row employees. It's just the nature of what all was going on there and who the people were and who they were associated with."

Jamie McMurray will start third with Denny Hamlin and Ryan Blaney rounding out the top five. Blaney will look to sweep the races at Pocono for 2017 after earning his first career win in the June event.

The rest of the top 10 were Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Daniel Suarez, Erik Jones, and Joey Logano.

Other notables: Jimmie Johnson will start 14th; Kyle Larson will start 16th; Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 23rd. Defending race winner Chris Buescher will start 24th.

UP NEXT: The Overton's 400 at 3 p.m. ET.
