UPDATE: Ferrari confirms Leclerc test in Hungary
Ferrari has confirmed to RACER that Charles Leclerc will drive for Ferrari during the post-race test following the Hungarian Grand Prix in two weeks’ time, after the 18-year-old Ferrari driver tweeted the news yesterday.
Leclerc has been dominating the FIA Formula 2 championship this season, securing pole position at all six rounds and winning four of the six feature races – as well as one sprint race – to establish a 67-point advantage at the top of the standings.
He will drive on one day of the two-day test at the Hungaroring on Aug. 1-2, although Ferrari has not announced who will drive on the other day. Sebastian Vettel and reserve driver Antonio Giovinazzi took part in the first post-race test in Bahrain earlier this year, meaning Ferrari can still run one of its race drivers if it wishes.

2016 GP3 champion Leclerc has previous experience of F1 machinery, having taken part in four FP1 sessions for Haas last season, while also appearing for Ferrari in the post-race test at Silverstone a year ago.
With both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen currently out of contract at the end of the season, Leclerc has been linked with a potential step up to a Ferrari race seat in 2018 as a result of his dominant display in F2 so far. At present Ferrari is only contracted to supply Haas next year, with the American team expected to retain its current driver line-up of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.
While Leclerc will run on one day, Mercedes is going to run one of its young prospects on both days of the test in Hungary. George Russell is currently leading the drivers' championship in the GP3 Series and will be behind the wheel of the W09 for the full test after Mercedes ran both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in Bahrain.
Teams have to dedicate at least two of the four in-season test days to drivers who have started no more than two grands prix in their career.
