
Wittmer leads TC CTMP practice; O’Gorman, Pipal top TCA, TCB
Karl Wittmer led the Touring Car practice speeds Friday morning at the historic Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in his No. 99 Honda Ste-Rose Racing Honda Accord with a speed of 97.09 miles per hour (1 minute, 31.172 seconds).
Following Wittmer in the TC division was veteran Tony Rivera, in the No. 34 Brass Monkey Racing Nissan 370Z at 1:31.367 (96.88 mph), Anthony Magagnoli, in the No. Rooster Hall Racing BMW M235iR at 1:32.067 (96.15 mph), Nick Wittmer in the No. 91 ST Racing BMW M235iR at 1:32.498 (95.70 mph) and defending TC champion Toby Grahovec the No. 1 Classic BMW BMW M235iR at 1:32.745 (95.44 mph).
Tom O’Gorman, the 2016 TCB champion, paced the TCA division in the No. 94 Shea Racing Honda Civic Si at 1:36.556 (91.68 mph) while VIR pole winner Jake Pipal was the quickest driver in the TCB category at 1:45.121 (84.21 mph) in his No. 6 Carbotech Brakes/Pipal Racing Honda Fit.
Qualifying for Touring Car at CTMP Friday is set for 1:25 p.m. EDT. The opening TC race of the weekend will be Saturday at 9:40 a.m. and will be live streamed on www.motortrendondemand.com and www.world-challenge.com.
