Karl Wittmer excited about PWC debut
Karl Wittmer says that he is eager to build on his family's legacy when he makes his debut in the PWC's TC class curtain-raiser at ViR later this month.
Wittmer – brother of IMSA BMW GTLM works driver and PWC SprintX racer Kuno, and PWC TC driver Nick, will drive a Honda Ste-Rose-backed Honda Accord.
"I can't wait to start my first race in PWC," said the Canadian. "My two older brothers, Nick and Kuno, have raced in PWC for several years and it will be my duty to try and do better for myself, the team and my sponsors. I think we have the team to contend up front, but I'm certainly aware of all the new entries and experienced drivers in PWC TC this year and fully understand it will be a challenge, but one I am ready to take on head first."
Wittmer familiarized himself with the car and track during testing last month, and will fill the seat left by Nick, who has moved into an ST Racing-run BMW.
"We are happy for Nick to be moving on and in to a very competitive car and sad to have seen him leave, but we hope it will be a tight battle for the top spot with our Honda Accord V6," said team owner Patrik Wittmer.
