Acclaimed Artist to Produce Painting at Long Beach For Fundraising Auction For The Austin Hatcher Foundation For Pediatric Cancer
The latest news surrounding the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer – an official “Proud Charity” of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) – involves both a celebration of accomplishment and contributions to a worthy cause, going into the BUBBA Burger Sports Car Grand Prix and the renowned Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach street-race weekend, Friday-Sunday.
Patterson will make Sunday’s auction at the Cadillac Corral extra-special. He is the official artist for another California racing facility, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey. He is acclaimed for his “live art” style of motorsports painting – “motionsports” – which underscores his mantra “the art of speed, the speed of art.”
Plans are for Patterson to begin a work at 11 a.m. (PT/local) and the painting will be auctioned upon completion, with proceeds benefiting the foundation.
“The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of America’s premier street-race events and the BUBBA burger Sports Car Grand Prix is an obvious highlight of the IMSA season,” said Austin Hatcher Foundation President Amy Jo Osborn. “We are of course honored to have an opportunity to be showcased amid that setting.
“Bill Patterson is one of those true friends of our foundation who continually steps up to the plate to assist our cause. We are indebted – and excited, going into this spectacular weekend of racing.”
Throughout 2017, the Austin Hatcher Foundation is commemorating its recently-completed first decade of operation. The foundation began in 2006 and prior to its IMSA Proud Charity status, it was the Official Charity of the American Le Mans Series. As part of the commemoration, the foundation is amid its “Five for Ten” fundraising campaign that has resulted in a number of a 10-year commitments by donors. The organization’s “building a foundation for the future” platform is all about continuing and expanding programs that benefit those dealing with pediatric cancer and its lasting effects.
