Skeen returns to PWC with McCann Racing

McCann Racing announced a return to Pirelli World Challenge racing for the Virginia International Raceway SprintX round with drivers Michael McCann and Mike Skeen driving an all-new Audi R8 LMS.

The team took delivery of its Audi R8 LMS just before the first of the year. It completed a shakedown test in January, as well as a test at VIR to prepare them for the first SprintX event on April 29-30. Crew Chief Dan Fiffick said, "I am very excited about the potential of the Audi R8 LMS and the support that Audi offers for our program."

The testing has offered McCann the opportunity to get acquainted with the new, mid-engine platform after years of racing front-engine vehicles.

"The new car is a lot different than what I'm used to, but I'm really enjoying it so far," said McCann. "I've been able to gain confidence in the downforce this car produces and have gotten down to some competitive times. If things go well at VIR, we'd like to keep doing SprintX and maybe add a few GTA weekends as well."

In addition to the new car, the team will be gaining a new driver in Skeen, an accomplished driver in Pirelli World Challenge who nearly won the 2014 driver's championship at the wheel of the Hawk Performance Audi R8 ultra.

"I've really enjoyed working with all the guys at McCann Racing in these initial tests and the car has proven to be very capable already. I'm excited to be a part of the PWC paddock again and look forward to more great racing," Skeen said.

McCann Racing has over 30 years of motorsports experience, having campaigned factory-supported efforts for Dodge and Cadillac in Pirelli World Challenge. As a professional automotive shop, it services all brands of cars and specialize in Dodge Viper track preparation.
