Racer Media & Marketing produces 400th issue of SportsCar magazine

It's a year of milestones for Racer Media & Marketing, Inc. In addition to 2017 marking the 25th anniversary of RACER magazine, and the 20th year of RACER.com, the April, 2017 issue of SportsCar is the 400th consecutive issue to be published by the company going back to 1984. Racer Media & Marketing, Inc., including stints under different business names, has been the publisher of the Sports Car Cub of America's official magazine for 33 years. In 2016, the publishing partnership between the two groups was renewed guaranteeing the continuous publication of the magazine into the next decade.

"To think that our company has published 400 consecutive editions of SportsCar is not just a testament to the strength and commitment of our relationship with the SCCA," says Paul Pfanner, president, executive publisher and founder of Racer Media & Marketing, Inc., "But, it's also a testament to the great members of the SCCA whose stories of passion and individual achievement continue to fill the pages of the magazine."

Fittingly, the cover story for the April 2017 issue is called "Fun For All," about a couple of SCCA autocrossers who stop at nothing to have fun in the sport they love. The story is just one example among thousands of how SportsCar magazine's mission has always been to go beyond the what, where and when of the SCCA to get to the more important questions of who and why. It's in these stories of racers, volunteers, suppliers and partners who go beyond merely a passion for auto racing to form a Club that represents a way of life which as been the backbone of SportsCar's coverage.

"Producing 400 issues of SportsCar has not been the work of the moment," says Philip Royle, the longest serving editor of SportsCar who has been at the helm for over 120 of the 400 issues. "But at the same time, it's hard to believe that we've done so many. We have the opportunity to profile members, connect advertisers to customers, and be the record keepers of nearly everything that happens within the Club each month. It's great responsibility, but we've never been at a loss for what to write about, which I think speaks to how this Club is always forging ahead."

SportsCar is published 12 times annually, and is included as part of every full membership in the Sports Car Club of America. With 65,000 full or part time members in the club, SportsCar is audited by the Alliance for Audited Media with more than 35,000 print copies distributed per month. Multiple-member households (that are a common trait of SCCA membership) only receive one copy. SportsCar's team of editors and writers also contribute regular content about the SCCA to North American market-leading motorsports media properties RACER.com and RACER Magazine.
