C360R (Compass Racing) returns to Pirelli World Challenge competition with a brand new Touring Car program featuring the recently-announced Audi RS 3 LMS USA Clubsport in partnership with Pfaff Automotive Partners. Floridian Paul Holton has been engaged to helm the car, which has support from AlphaClone, AERO Paint, Audi Genuine Parts, Audi Tire Center and APR.
“We’re really excited to be working with C360R on this program,” remarked Pfaff Motorsports Manager Steve Bortolotti. “This is a natural progression of a relationship that started a number of years ago with their Audi effort with the S3, R8 and TT RS and has grown to include their McLarens as well.
C360R’s Team Principal, Karl Thomson, was equally enthusiastic. “Pfaff has been a simply incredible partner over the past few seasons, and we’re grateful to have the opportunity to be one of the first teams to compete with this new Audi RS 3 LMS.”
Holton is a natural fit for the program, having competed last season in the Audi TT Cup in Europe. The spec car used in that series formed the basis of the new RS 3 LMS car, and his experience with the platform will provide the team a real advantage. “Racing in TT Cup last year gave me a lot of seat time getting this front-wheel-drive car into the sweet spot, and I expect we will be competitive right out of the box, especially with support of Brad Kettler and the folks at Audi Sport customer racing,” said Paul.
Audi Genuine Parts and Audi Tire Center, who have been team partners since 2015, bring their support to the effort, along with AERO Advanced Paint Technology, APR and AlphaClone.
“We’re proud to be part of the Compass Racing team, and are pleased to add this new World Challenge program to our at-track activation program this year,” said AlphaClone CEO Mazin Jadallah. “Our business has much in common with racing: leveraging technology to achieve high performance while managing risk is at the heart of our process. This is a great opportunity for us to connect with potential clients and partners, and we are looking forward to being part of the PWC paddock.”
“Audi Genuine Parts and the Audi Tire Center are delighted to continue our relationship with C360R with their commitment to campaign the new Audi RS 3 LMS. We are looking forward to a successful season in the Pirelli World Challenge TC class.,” noted Anthony Russo, Parts Program Specialist, Audi of America.
As announced previously, the team welcomes a new charity partner for 2017, in the form of The Race Day Foundation. “We’re so very proud to welcome the kids with medical challenges and their families that Race Day brings to the track,” said Thomson. “We’re pleased to help offer a day away to create powerful memories that offer hope and inspiration for a family at a time when they need it most.”
Holton will also pilot an RS 3 LMS at the PWC pre-season Balance of Performance test, prior to joining C360R for team testing scheduled in advance of the season-opening event at Virginia International Raceway on April 28-30th. The races will be streamed live on the World Challenge website (http://world-challenge.com/streamvideo) and be broadcast tape-delayed on CBS Sports.
