Biffle to mix part-time racing with NBC TV role
Greg Biffle does not have a full-time NASCAR ride for this season but he'll remain closely involved in the sport.
In a series of tweets Friday afternoon, Biffle announced he will be a reoccurring guest for NBC Sports with its "NASCAR America" show. His first appearance will be on March 1 leading into race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
The decision to not race full-time, Biffle said, was after consideration of all the offers he had received for 2017. However, he is keeping the door open to returning to the driver's seat, "if the right opportunity arises."
Biffle announced his departure from Roush Fenway Racing in November, after spending nearly 20 years with the organization. It was a mutual split, Biffle said, between he and Roush Fenway with the No. 16 team's performance the past few seasons among the reasons behind the decision.
In 510 Cup Series starts, Biffle has 19 career wins. A second-place finish in points in 2005 following six wins is his career best. At 46 years old, Biffle had been the oldest active driver in the series.
A champion in both the Camping World Truck Series (2000) and the Xfinity Series (2002), Biffle also has a combined 36 career wins between the two.
