WEC: Rebellion confirms Senna for LMP2

Rebellion Racing has revealed more details of its plans for its new ORECA 07 Gibson LMP2 program, confirming four of six drivers for its two-car entry in the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship.

The Swiss-based team, which

revealed plans last month to field an ORECA-Gibson LMP2 in IMSA's Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup events

, announced that Nicolas Prost, Mathias Beche and Nelson Piquet Jr. will return to its WEC line-up in 2017 and be joined by Bruno Senna for the team's new entry in the revised LMP2 category of the WEC. The driver combinations and the silver drivers selected by Rebellion will be confirmed in the near future.

Rebellion ran the first of its ORECA 07 cars at Sebring last week, as part of a tire test with Dunlop.

"We are very pleased to confirm our plans to enter two ORECA 07 LMP2 cars in the 2017 World Endurance Championship alongside our already announced entry with a single car in the IMSA North American Endurance Cup races," said team manager Bart Hayden. "We are also very happy that Nico, Mathias and Nelson will be driving with us again in 2017 and I would like to welcome Bruno to the team. We were impressed with the ORECA 07 when we tested it in Sebring last week, it should be a good car to go for race victories and the championship. We are putting together all the ingredients to run a strong campaign in 2017!"
