VIDEO: Robin Miller with the Steinbrenners

Hank Steinbrenner obviously grew up a Yankees fan, but the chairman of and part owner of the famous baseball franchise also loved racing.

"Mario Andretti, Jim Clark and Don Prudomme [were my favorites]," said Steinbrenner, who was in Indianapolis on Thursday to announce that his son, George Michael Steinbrenner IV, and Michael Andretti will be

campaigning an Indy Lights car for Colton Herta

in 2017. "We don't have a heritage in car racing, obviously. The Andrettis, it's a different situation. But my dad really did love car racing. I always did, even when I was a little kid. My son has been around it for a long time through different connections and we plan to be here for a while."

George Michael Steinbrenner IV became an open-wheel fan when he started following the rising star of the late Tony Renna.

"That got me hooked. I met Bryan a few years ago and started watching Colton and this is a great day for us," said the 20-year-old grandson of the controversial New York Yankees owner.

"Our goal is eventually to grow into an IndyCar program along with the Andrettis, and have Colton as the driver, and to win championships. That's the goal."
