INDYCAR: 'I definitely want to run Indy 500' - Larson
IndyCar fans lamenting the "loss" of Kyle Larson to NASCAR after his meteoric rise to prominence in short-track oval racing could be in for some good news: While Larson is well into his stride as a stock car racer with Chip Ganassi Racing, he told RACER's Robin Miller at Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis that the lure of Indy still burns brightly for him.

"I definitely want to run the Indy 500 for sure, so I'm going to bug Chip about it," said Larson, who won his first Sprint Cup race this year and made The Chase in his fourth season in NASCAR's top league. "I wanted to do the 100th running [this year] but I guess 101's just as good!"
The 24-year-old Californian, who won the 2011 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora – becoming only the second driver ever to win in all three types of USAC cars in a single night – hasn't turned his back on his short-track roots, either. He'll take part in next month's popular Chili Bowl midget-car race in Tulsa, Okla., and prior to that will take in some dirt-track races in Australia.
"I just feel like the more I race, the sharper I stay," Larson added. "This year they [CGR] let me run a lot more – last year I think I ran one or two dirt races, and this year I ran 20-something and I had my best season ever in Cup. So I hope he [Ganassi] realizes that."
