INDYCAR: RLL adds German to engineering team

Indy 500-winning race engineer Tom German has been added to Rahal Letterman Lanigan's deep pool of technical talent ahead of a championship run for Graham Rahal in 2017.

Partnered with Alexander Rossi at Andretti Autosport, the pair combined to win the 100th Indy 500 in May, and with the team's hiring of Jeremy Milless to oversee Rossi's car next season, RLL was able to secure German's services with a multi-year consulting contract.

"We are very pleased to welcome Tom to our team," said RLL co-owner Bobby Rahal. "His record speaks volumes and I have no doubt having Tom work in conjunction with Eddie Jones, Martin Pare, Mike Talbott and Alex Farina will generate much success for all of our drivers, now and in the future."

German's expertise in simulation software is well known in the paddock, and with his wide base of engineering skills to offer, Rahal's No. 15 Honda will be blessed with an abundance of experience across RLL's brain trust.

"I have known Mr. Rahal for a number of years and am impressed with his ability to attract and retain quality people," German said. "This vision is yielding results; Graham and the team have led the Honda contingent for the past two seasons and established themselves as championship contenders. I appreciate the opportunity to join the team."
