MOTOGP: Aprilia to run AIDS charity livery

Aprilia will run a special, all-red livery in this weekend's Valencia MotoGP finale to support AIDS charity (RED).

The RS-GPs of outgoing riders Alvaro Bautista and Stefan Bradl will carry the color as part of Aprilia parent company Piaggio Group's support for the association founded by U2 singer Bono and American activist Bobby Shriver.

(RED) has raised $360 million to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in developing countries since 2006.

Aprilia's crew members will also wear one-off red uniforms, and the initiative will promote the hashtag #iRideRED.

Bautista and Bradl are 13th and 16th in the MotoGP standings, with Aprilia having signed current Suzuki rider Aleix Espargaro and Moto2 race winner Sam Lowes in their place for 2017.

While Bautista stays in MotoGP with a move to Ducati satellite team Aspar after five season with the Gresini squad that runs the Aprilia program, Bradl will depart the championship for a Honda World Superbike ride after this weekend.
