IHRA: Gearing up for the World Finals

It's time to make plans for next week's sure-to-be-stellar IHRA finale, the Summit Racing Equipment World Finals at Memphis International Raceway.

It all starts on Thursday, October 20, with the opening of the Summit Tournament of Champions and Summit Super Series credentials and tech. There's also an optional Test 'n Tune session for competitors only from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time.

Tech and credentials open Friday at 8 a.m.

Summit Pro-Am Tour Awards Ceremony will be from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Summit SuperSeries Competitor Meeting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Then it's Summit TOC and Summit Super Series Qualifying starting at 12:30 p.m. The run order in TOC is HR, ST, QR, TS, SR, TD, SS, and Junior. In SSS, it's Mod, Top and Juniors.

After qualifying, it's the JR Race Car Junior "Sweet 16." All cars dial in and run a first round. The 16 winning drivers closest to their dial in from first round will compete in a 16-car elimination for the purse, which is $200 to win, $100 R/U, $50 semi, $30 quarters, $20 eighths.

After the Juniors, it's the Trick Flow "Sweet 16" (Box & No Box) open to all vehicles. All cars dial in and run the first round. The 16 winning drivers in each class that are closest to their dial in from the first round will compete in a 16-car elimination for the purse. (Rod cars can run throttle stops). A full tree, eighth-mile will be used. The prize is $1,000 to win, $500 R/U, $250 semi, $100 quarters, $50 eighths.

Saturday, church service is at 8 a.m., and credentials open then. Summit Super Series qualifying starts at 9 a.m., followed by SSS eliminations, round one. TOC qualifying starts after SSS first round, followed by eliminations.
