IHRA: Mike Dunn and the California Cacklefest
If you've never been to a Cacklefest, you should mark it on your bucket list: There's one at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif. this Oct. 23-25.
So what is a Cacklefest? It's a drag racing reunion, at which you are likely to see some of the most iconic dragsters ever, along with some of the most iconic drag racers. The name comes from the sound of a half-dozen or more Top Fuelers just idling all at once – they "cackle," hence the name Cacklefest. Check Cacklefest.com for a list of upcoming reunions.
Here's a look at a Cacklefest, the 23rd Annual California Hot Rod Reunion, with IHRA President Mike Dunn driving the Waterford and Hampshire Top Fuel dragster. It's one of the few events where the push cars and trucks are as cool as the racers!
