PWC: Cindric leads GT practice 1 at Sonoma

K-PAX Racing's Austin Cindric, piloting the No. 6 McLaren 650S GT3, set the fastest lap in Friday's first GT classes practice session.

Cindric turned a best lap of 1m32.723 under overcast but clearing track conditions. Johnny O'Connell turned the next fastest practice lap at 1:33.950 in the No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R. GT3, while AE Replay XD Nissan GT Academy driver James Davison rounded out the top three with a 1:33.972 lap in the No. 33 Nissan GT-R GT3. The top five fast practice laps in GT were within half a second of the fast lap.

In GTA, Wright Motorsports' No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3R driver Michael Schein turned a class-leading lap time of 1:35.908. Point leader Martin Fuentes was second with a 1:35.955 in the No. 07 Scuderia Corsa Hublot/Under Armour Ferrari 458 Italia GT3, while Hinsdale, IL, resident Cooper MacNeil took the new No. 79 Alex Job Racing WeatherTech Porsche 991 GT3R entry to the class' third-fastest lap at 1:36.087.

Flying Lizard Motorsports' No. 35 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, driven by Mike Hedlund, set the practice pace for GT Cup entrants with a 1:39.135 lap. Alec Udell turned a 1:39.252 lap in the No. 17 GMG Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup while Sloan Urry ran 1:40.058 to capture third fastest in the class in the No. 20 TruSpeed Autosports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.

GT classes practice sessions continue at 1:15 pm PDT Friday afternoon.
