IHRA: Ian Tocher update
You may recall that drag racing photographer and journalist Ian Tocher was seriously injured when the car of his friend Ronnie "The King" Davis went out of control at the PDRA Spring Nationals at Rockingham Dragway during Top Sportsman qualifying on April 9. Davis, a three-time IHRA World Champion, did not survive.
Tocher barely did, after being hit by the car, which went airborne and cleared the wall, and flying parts and debris found Tocher, who was taking photos. Tocher suffered horrible damage to his pelvis, and a variety of other injuries.
On May 28, Tocher posted on Facebook that he had just started getting around using a walker, and that he was going home. We've been told he is making steady progress on his way back to the drag strip.
And this is good news: A GoFundMe account set up to help with expenses had a goal of raising $60,000, and the current total is $64,290.
