WRC: Meeke, Breen in for Corsica; Lefebvre recovering

Kris Meeke and Craig Breen have been announced as the PH Sport Citroen team's drivers for next month's Tour of Corsica.

The pair, who both finished on the Rally Finland podium with Meeke winning and Breen bringing his DS 3 WRC home third, have already completed their pre-event test in Italy.

Corsica is understood to have always been part of the French team's plans and Breen was confirmed in one car as long ago as June.

Meeke would also have competed on the now-canceled China Rally this weekend, while Stephane Lefebvre was hoping to drive in Corsica before

his massive accident in Germany

His recovery time will prevent a return to competition on his home World Rally Championship round, though he is now home from hospital and hopes to be present in the service park in Corsica and rallying again before the end of the year.

"Going back home was a key step for me," said Lefebvre. "I stopped using the crutches to walk very quickly and can now get around easily enough, even though I still have some pain in my ribs.

"When my lower back is strong enough again, I'll be able to start working on specific physiotherapy sessions with Citroen Racing's osteopath.

"I hope to be in Corsica just to observe the event. That will allow me to spend time with the team before considering when I'll be back in action at a rally.

"The aim is to drive competitively again before the end of the season."

Lefebvre's co-driver Gabin Moreau has been transferred to hospital in Strasbourg, where he has undergone a second operation.

It is hoped he will transfer to a recovery center in the coming days.

Moreau said: "According to the doctors, my progress has been quick since the operation, which involved removing the pins that had been put in place in Germany.

"Obviously, I can't put any weight on my foot as yet, but I have been able to begin moving around whilst taking the right precautions. As soon as I'm sufficiently independent again, I'll be able to spend a few days at home. After that, I'll continue my recovery in a specialist center.

"The whole process will take several weeks, so it'll probably take a bit longer than Stephane, but we are both determined to start working together again as soon as possible."
