INDYCAR: Enerson rocks qualifying performance
Starting 11th for an IndyCar race would not be considered a remarkable achievement under most circumstances, but when you're 19-year-old RC Enerson, in your second-ever start in the series, and starting six spots ahead of your more experienced teammate, a celebration is in order.
"That's crazy to make it to the second round in only my second IndyCar qualifying," the Dale Coyne Racing driver said after making it inside the Firestone Fast 12. "I didn't expect it with the way the weekend was going. We were running towards the back a bit, trying to figure things out but these guys hit it with the car right on."

Enerson was a Fast 12 possibility on his IndyCar debut last month at Mid-Ohio, but fell to 18th after struggling to come to grips on his first introduction to Firestone's faster red tires. Working with Kyle Brannan and the No. 19 DCR team has given the Indy Lights graduate a chance to showcase his talents, and after learning from his mistakes during his debut, the Floridian is primed to make another indelible impression on Sunday.
"We still have a little bit of work to do on what we want to do for race set up but starting 11th, I'm OK with that!" he said. "We can't really do much better than that right now. We got into the second group and anything else was a bonus!"
Enerson is scheduled to complete the season alongside DCR teammate Conor Daly, who will start 17th, at Sonoma Raceway on Sept. 18.
