MOTOGP: Hayden could get surprise call-up

Former world champion Nicky Hayden could make a surprise return to MotoGP in this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The American is considered a likely substitute to stand in for Jack Miller with the Marc VDS Honda outfit if Miller is ruled out of a third-consecutive grand prix and fourth of 2016.
Miller crashed during the warm-up for the Austrian GP last month and was diagnosed with hairline fractures to his T6 vertebra and right wrist.
He was cleared by doctors to race in the Czech GP at Brno seven days later, but Marc VDS, Honda and the Australian rider's management elected to rest him for the weekend.
While Miller was expected to return at Silverstone, that is now uncertain with a conservative approach being taken to the 21-year-old's health including further tests on Thursday.
After 14 seasons, 2006 world champion Hayden left MotoGP at the end of 2015 to move to the World Superbike Championship with Honda, and is currently sixth in that series.
