TV Ratings: Belgium, Texas, Michigan

Formula 1 returned to action after its month-long break, and the combination of delayed gratification and the spectacular setting for the Belgian GP made for a strong audience. The live race coverage scored a rating of 0.35 on Sunday morning on NBCSN, averaging 526,000 viewers. That's not the best F1 has done this year on NBCSN, but the top two (Bahrain and Azerbaijan) benefited from later start times.

Speaking of delayed gratification, it took a couple of months for Texas Motor Speedway's Verizon IndyCar Series race to finish, although it delivered on Saturday night with a spectacular finish. The live telecast of the Firestone 600 on NBCSN earned a rating of 0.26 and averaged 388,000 viewers. That's down from an average of 431,000 in 2015.

NASCAR Sprint Cup racing avoided its recent run of weather trouble and ran as scheduled at Michigan, and NBCSN's telecast on Sunday afternoon earned a 2.1 rating, averaging 3.4 million viewers. That's down from a 2.4 rating last year.

NASCAR's Camping World Truck Series, however, was hit with a rain delay, which dropped it to just 292,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1. Delayed coverage of the race on FS2 in the early morning hours Sunday netted just 20,000 viewers (rating numbers were not available).

Saturday afternoon's NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America, also on NBCSN, scored a 0.64 rating, averaging 932,000 viewers  essentially identical to last year's numbers.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship averaged 91,000 viewers for its GT-only race from VIR on FS1 (rating number was not available).

Red Bull Global Rallycross action from Atlantic City on NBC on Sunday afternoon scored a 0.30 rating, averaging 423,000 viewers.
