IHRA: Throwback Thursday - 2013 points standings

On Wednesday, we gave you the rundown of the top five in points of each of the four Pro categories for 2016. Dialing it back just a few years, how did that roster look in 2013?

In one category, names from the 2016 championship appeared then, too, but in a different order. In Nitro Motorcycle, Tracy Kile edged out this year's champ, Jay Turner, by just 31 points. And it third it was Jake Stordeur, who was also third this year. Kile was five points back of Stordeur in fourth.

Quite a few changes in the AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car class, which was called Prostalgia Funny Car then: The champ was Peter Gallen, and in second, Mike McIntire, the same place he ended up this year. The 2016 champ, Jason Rupert, was ninth, one spot behind Mark Sanders, who was fourth this season. Michael Minick was third in 2013.

"Nostalgia Fuel Altered" is no longer a Pro class in the IHRA, but let's not forget the champion from 2013, Kyle Hough, followed by Ron Hope and Ron Maroney.

And while Top Fuel wasn't a Pro class in 2016, it will be again in 2017. And don't be surprised if the champion from 2013 goes after another one next year: Bruce Litton (pictured), who raced in Top Fuel a couple of times this season in an exhibition class this year (in photo), and has a brand-new car he brought to the season finale at US 131 Motorplex for a shakedown.

Litton, of course, also raced this season in the AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car class. Kyle Wurtzel, Bobby Lagana, Ike Maier and Dominick Lagana rounded out the top five in 2013. Maier and the Laganas also raced once this season in Top Fuel at the IHRA show at Grand Bend Motorplex in Canada, so they could be back in 2017.
