IHRA: Throwback Thursday - U.S. 131 Motorplex

Last but certainly not least, the IHRA Drag Racing Series is focusing on its 2016 finale, the Northern Nationals at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan, August 12-13.

The race will decide the season championships for the AMSOIL Nitro Funny Cars, the Pro Mods, the Pro Stocks and the Nitro Motorcycles.

Though U.S. 131 may not be as well known as some tracks, it is undeniably among the best in the country, and its history is impressive.

For Throwback Thursday, here's a great video of the track, "From the Beginning," starting with footage from 1962 and moving to the present. It's a great lesson in the history of drag racing in Michigan!
