F1: Pirelli outlines US Grand Prix tire compounds
Pirelli has announced its Formula 1 tire compound choices for the United States Grand Prix.
The Italian manufacturer is making the super-soft, soft and medium rubber available for the race at Circuit of The Americas on October 21-23.
It is by far the most popular combination utilized this year, with Austin to be the 10th time in 18 grands prix the three compounds have been selected.
Pirelli has declared one set of the medium or soft must be used at some stage during the 56-lap race.
It has also nominated one set of the super-soft tire to be used in the final part of qualifying.
Teams are then free to choose the remaining 10 sets as they see fit over the course of the weekend.
