INDYCAR: Frijns set for Andretti test
Amlin-Andretti FIA Formula E driver Robin Frijns will sample one of the Andretti Autosport's Honda-powered IndyCars for the first time later this month.
The 24-year-old Dutchman, who has extensive European open-wheel experience and served as a Formula 1 test driver for the Sauber and Caterham teams, will test with Andretti at Mid-Ohio on July 21.
Team owner Michael Andretti has previously expressed an interest in running Frijns in a fourth IndyCar at some point this season. RACER sources indicate that Frijns' Mid-Ohio test is intended to provide a benchmark for future consideration in that fourth car, but is not a guarantee for a race seat.
Frijns partnered with former IndyCar driver Simona de Silvestro in Formula E this season, producing the highlight for an otherwise difficult year for the Amlin-Andretti program with his third place in Putrajaya.
