PWC: BERG Racing resumes Touring Car program
After a two-month break from racing, BERG Racing's busy summer season begins with back-to-back race weekends at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Lime Rock Park.
The rush to prepare three Mazda MX-5's, just two weeks after BERG Racing's inaugural open house and Dyno Day proved to be quite the task, as team owner John Weisberg described.
"Our team put 25 cars through the dynamometer in under six hours," said Weisberg. "The team did a fantastic job; all customers in attendance were extremely happy, and we already have numerous inquiries for follow-up tuning and dyno work. Now we turn our attention to preparations for back-to-back race weekends in Canada and Connecticut."
BERG Racing's open house also proved to be a great opportunity to showcase the Hillside Family of Agencies, Rochester's largest non-profit youth and family support center.
"We always try to make ourselves busy during downtime between races, so to put on a charity event for Hillside, while also showcasing the capabilities of our facility to current and potential customers was a no-brainer" said Weisberg. "All-in-all, it was a great weekend – happy customers, great weather, great cars and great catering thanks to Midnight Smokin' BBQ. We're proud to have put on a great show for Hillside and REDCOM EMS."
After the open house celebrations, the scramble to turn around the #5 and #50 REDCOM Labs TC Mazda MX-5's and the #16 Fuse Lenses/Regenexx Cayman TCA MX-5 will pay off, according to Weisberg.
"Between turning the racecars around and customer work at the shop, we have a long week before the Lime Rock race," he said, "but Pirelli World Challenge's decision to add more track time at Lime Rock is a welcome and appreciated addition!"
BERG Racing's back-to-back May races begin at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, May 20, and conclude at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut, May 28.
