IHRA: Throwback Thursday - 2004 IHRA Delco Nationals

This race had it all: great record-setting weather, solid competition and a little slice of history. IHRA Top Fuel Dragster pilot Clay Millican was having one of the best years of his career as he entered the 2004 IHRA Delco Nationals Presented by Chevrolet at Virginia Motorsports Park in Richmond.

Millican came into the race tied with Rickie Smith for the most IHRA victories with 32 – would he leave Richmond with the lead? We won't spoil it. (How fast is Clay Millican? "He can steal a radio and leave the music!" said announcer Johnny Rocca.)

Watch this Speed telecast for a nice slice of IHRA action from a dozen years ago – you'll especially like seeing then-73-year-old Chris Karamesines lay down a 300mph lap.

And as to whether you will enjoy pit reporter Madusa – better known as a monster truck driver and the professional wrestler known as "Queen of Destruction" – well, that's up to you.
